Joins Music Man Family

Three-time Grammy nominee, Emmy Award-winner and bassist for Ernie Ball artist Steve Vai, Phil Bynoe, has joined the Ernie Ball Music Man family of musicians.

Music has been the focus of Philip’s life since early childhood, and even now - in between touring and recording commitments - he's making music that inspires both children (through his children's book work) and adults (as bassist for Steve, and in his studio work)

High Noon for Ernie Ball at NAMM 2013

Yesiree pardner! Ernie Ball Music Man was looking like some kind of cowboy outfit at this years NAMM. But while the good chaps from Coachella and SLO may have been sporting the John Wayne look, there was nothing last century about what they had to show musicans for 2013.

Music Man unveiled their new set neck Armada in a range of great colours, as well as the 13th Anniversary John Petrucci guitar - with new preamp and sleek sterling silver livery, and for Bassist - the original Classic Sabre is making a comeback. Ernie Ball had plenty to shout about too - can't wait to see what Aussie musicians think of M-Steel.

Andy McKee Home on the Range with Ernie Ball Music Man at NAMM

Andy Mckee spent some time with the folk at Ernie Ball Music Man on their NAMM stand, and it wasn't because he was looking to borrow a cowboy outfit. Word has it that Andy's wrapped in EB's new Everlast strings.

While he was there, Andy treated us all to a number of songs played with his own unique percussive hammer-on treatment - always inspiring!

Oh, and we couldn't help but notice that his amp of choice was a Markbass 2x10 combo!

20th Anniversary Luke One Re-Issue!

Music Man have announced a very limited edition reissue of the original Music Man Luke Steve Lukather Signature guitar with identical spec to the original except for a more modern Floyd Rose in line with other Floyd Rose equipped current Music Man models:

  • Scale length: 25.5"
  • Radius: 12"
  • Headstock: Only 5 7/8" long
  • Frets: 22
  • Width: 1 5/8" at nut, 2 1/4" at last fret
  • Wood: Selected maple with rosewood fingerboard
  • Finish: Gun stock oil and hand-rubbed special wax blend
  • Tuners: Schaller M6La
  • Truss rod: Adjustable. No tools, no component removal.
  • Attachment: 5 bolts. Perfect alignment with no shifting. Sculptured neck joint allows smooth access to upper frets.

 The new Luke 1 Reissue is available in Blue Pearl and Red Candy, the two original finish options and will include a BFR-style case and most excitingly a certificate of authenticity signed by the man Steve Lukather himself! Stock will be very exclusive so pre-order to avoid dissappointment!

The SLEDGE color is INCREDIBLE! Pictures do not do this finish justice. The color shifts from blue to green to purple, etc. It's gorgeous. Tony Levin will be touring with his SLEDGE Stingray. This finish is most definitely eye-catching. The SLEDGE finish name relates to the fact that Tony used his StingRay on Peter Gabriel’s original Sledgehammer recordings and tours. The SLEDGE finish will be offered on the CLASSIC Stingray 4 and 5 string basses.

This year, at the Arlington Guitar show, Ernie Ball/Music Man introduced a limited run of Silhouettes with Ash bodies, custom wound humbuckers (as featured in the Axis and Albert Lee HH models), and Floyd Rose tremolos. They were a huge success at the show, and international customers, on their online forum, began to chime in about their desire to see these pieces available in their country. So, they decided to offer these to their international distributors!  There are 5 colours available – Pacific Blue Burst, Trans Purple, Trans Teal, Natural and Black. They can be ordered with either rosewood or maple fingerboards.
