THE STORY SO FAR...
Turning up in spades to the second Global Battle of the Bands (GBOB) Challenge in Sydney, bands and fans had an absolute ball at the packed out Sydney Hilton Mable Bar!
Held on Monday 8th September at 7pm, the talent on display was so fantastic that A Red Letter Day (Event Management) was pleased to be able to put through two worthy winners – Neon Heart and Theoreal!
With killer charisma and an AC/DC attitude to boot, rock ‘n’ roll act Neon Heart were on cloud 9 after their victory at the Sydney Heat, and were stoked at their success in the GBOB challenge so far.
“It was fantastic!” lead guitarist, Matt Clark, enthused. “I would recommend any up-and-coming bands enter GBOB – what have you got to lose?”
With their unique sound reminiscent of Metallica crossed with Red Hot Chili Peppers, Theoreal set the stage ablaze with their ‘mosh-worthy’ performance. Making their win all that more impressive is the fact the band formed only six weeks before the actual night of the show!
“GBOB was awesome!” drummer Jose Castillo said. “The event was really well organised, and had a great, relaxed atmosphere.”
In fact, the lads from Theoreal thought the GBOB challenge was such a great experience that they would play again…win or lose!
Every single member of the winning band of the Regional Finals is in for a treat with a stack of super-cool prizes! These include the fantastic brand new digital camera out from FujiFilm, the Z20 (choose your colour to match your style!) Bands will also receive a pair of the coveted Chuck Taylor Converse Shoes (a must in any musician’s wardrobe) each, AND a bag of goodies from Ernie Ball!
These guys will put their name up in the NSW GBOB hall of fame along with 10 others who will join them at the NSW Regional Final to be held at the Hilton State Room on Monday 22nd September, so come along and show your support forlocal original music.
